Good stow-in-the-trunk jump starter with a capable compressor

No shade on the manufactuer, but the fulfillment of this item shipped as only the product box and it seems to have opened in transit and the small parts like the air adapters and both chargers fell out. With that said, the actual unit is solid and has very heavy duty jumper cable attached to the frame, so you cannot loose them like the plug-in type. Easy to check charge status and large manual controls that allow you to easily control things, one at a time, with gloves on. The compressor is better than many I have worked with. It is a small piston style, but the cycle speed is very good in that light and you can reasonbly air up a full size flat tire (car sized) if you were on the side of the road. On my test tire, in round numbers, I was observed a 2psi gain in about one minute. Note that the hose is roughly a foot long, so if the tire valve is at the 12 o'clock position, it is a stretch to get the hose to fit without shimming up the base. The charging system is a little finicky. It seems that a low power feed is used to slow charge the battery pack, but you can get various display results with the same inputs. Sometimes, it takes many hours (instructions say to give first charge of up to 38 hours), other times, it will show full in 6 or 8 hours, but then the next day, after no use, show low 90-percents for a power level. The units, with the added weight of the compressor, is a bit unwieldly, so for a jump, you really need to have a good place for the unit to rest by the battery because if it slips, it is heavy enough that it could do some harm to any plastic parts in the engine compartment that it slides into. If I can work out the charging eccentricity, then I think it will be a good stow-in-the-trunk unit for roadside and parking lot needs. I was able to use my own 12 volt 2 amp house voltage power supply with a 2.1mm x 5.5mm standard polarity tip jack. When in charging state, the digital display flashes a charge level.
