“This hefty winter jacket is hands-down the best (and warmest) one I own. Waterproof, insulated, and windproof. It’s the winter jacket trifecta. I’ve had this parka for five winters now, and it never lets me down. Frankly, I don’t think I’ve ever been cold while wearing it, and it’s been with me all over the mountains of Colorado, in the middle of some of the chilliest snowstorms. This one will be with me until the day it falls apart (which isn’t anytime soon, as it’s stayed in excellent condition, despite me putting it through the wringer).
I love that this parka is a long winter jacket, so you get really nice coverage below the waist, which is particularly helpful when dealing with 30+ mph winds and whipping snow. Plus, the spacious hood makes it easy to keep my head and ears shielded from icy conditions. The faux fur lining also does an amazing job of keeping flurries from getting in my hair and melting all over my head once I’m in warmer temps.
And don’t even get me started on the pockets! I’m able to place my phone in the interior pocket (which keeps the battery from draining too fast) and stash my hand warmers in the massive front pockets on the exterior.
I’ve noticed that these winter jackets tend to run a tad big, so sizing down is a solid idea if you don’t plan on doing hefty layering with this coat. I like to layer my Patagonia Better Sweater underneath for extra chilly days, but for the average winter day, I simply toss the Nuuk parka over my outfit, and I’m golden.
The only con I can think of when it comes to this winter jacket is that it’s on the heavier side. It’s perfect for exploring mountain towns, wandering through snowy cities for long periods, and moderate hikes. But given it’s a bit heavier, it wouldn’t work for someone in search of a running or cycling jacket for winter. Or for longer hikes with steep elevation gain, I typically opt for my more lightweight winter jackets in those cases.”
