Which Quest 3 games have mixed reality support? Here are 79 games and apps that have mixed reality, augmented reality, or passthrough support (note: some of them are not shown in the montage). The ones in italics have very good use of mixed reality, in I’ll keep adding more to this list as I find them.
Exciting Battles:
- YUKI Space Ranger (get 25% discount here): The popular bullet hell game has been updated to add a new MRCade mode where you can defend your bedroom against aliens! (added 10/12). I really enjoyed it!
- FPS Enhanced Reality: play a first person shooter in mixed reality!
Spatial Ops
: Engage in an arena-scale multiplayer shooter, blending the realms of virtual and reality.
- Bam: Dive into a multiplayer battle set within a holographic tabletop arena.
- Blaston: Challenge opponents in a 1-on-1 duel, arming yourself with varied weapons and dodging bullets in slow motion. REVIEW: Blaston is a PvP game where you and your opponent face each other and shoot using a variety of sci-fi weapons while dodging bullets. It’s fun but I found that it’s not casual friendly because almost every player I’ve been matched with has totally destroyed me.
- Broken Edge (get 25% discount here): Engage in electrifying 1-on-1 swordfights against formidable human opponents or computer AI.
Demeo Battles
(get 25% discount here): Engage in intense battles with friends on a dynamic, living gameboard. Note: this game is different from Demeo below. REVIEW: this is a turn-based battle/strategy board game where you control a team of two heroes and creatures against an opposing team. Using the heroes’ and creatures’ attacks as well as magical cards, you try to eliminate the two opposing heroes as he tries to do the same to you. The rules of the game are easy to learn. It has a single player mode with 50 challenges (which is at least 25 hours’ worth), but it is primarily a multiplayer game. Each Demeo Battle game is around 20 minutes, whereas Demeo can take 2-3 hours per session (each campaign has three levels, and each level takes 30 to 45 minutes, although you can save in between each level).
- Asgard’s Wrath 2 (get 25% discount here): this epic action adventure has some mixed reality minigames. UPDATE: this is the best VR adventure game for Quest but I have yet to see any use of mixed reality (I’ve seen some screenshots of portals opening in your living room). Reviewed here.
- Knockout League (get 25% discount here): now featuring a mixed reality option. REVIEW: this is essentially like Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out in VR. You face enemies that have a certain types of attacks. You learn their attack patterns, which you each block or dodge in a specific way. If you do it successfully, it opens them to a counterattack. You’re not going to learn actual boxing skills but it’s still a workout. It also has a good training mode (mitt man, etc.) that can help improve your boxing skills.
- Thrill of the Fight: the most realistic boxing game on Quest has a mixed reality option that lets you see your environment (hopefully you’ll avoid punching your TV). Note: this is one of my favorite VR games. I’ve had it ever since it was a desktop app and I repurchased it when it became available for the Quest. Awesome workout. Mixed reality makes it feel like you are sparring with a hologram. This game is best played on roomscale. Here’s how to get more space.
- The Light Brigade: this roguelike VR shooter game now has a mixed reality mode where waves of soldiers invade your room, and you collect upgrades to beat tougher enemies.
- Dragon Front Rising: a card battle board game with mixed reality support.
Immersive Adventures
- NEW! Demeter: the first mixed reality platformer! The heroine Atalante has crash landed in your room. Help her get back to save your world and ours.
- Lego Bricktales (get 25% discount here): Harness your LEGO building skills and creativity to tackle holographic puzzles.
Review
: I tried this game and it is even more fun than I expected but the mixed reality is just a passthrough view. There is no interaction at all with your environment. In fact, the mixed reality mode can be turned off so that you’re just working in a blue void.
Espire 2
: Harness your spy skills to combat enemy soldiers infiltrating your home.
Demeo
(get 25% discount here)Review
: this VR turn-based RPG is polished, and fun to play, with many touches to really bring the feel of tabletop RPG, such as cover pages for the adventures that look like covers for Dungeons & Dragons modules. But it’s a lot simpler than pen and paper D&D. Demeo is designed to be multiplayer but you can create private rooms for you and your friends, or you can even play solo in Skirmish mode, where you control 1 to 4 characters yourself. There are currently 5 adventures (a sixth is on the way) with 3 levels each and each level takes about 2 hours to play. The levels change with every playthrough, so adventures can be replayed. One criticism is that after the tutorial, the adventures themselves are not easy at all. Even with my experience playing Demeo Battles, one of my party members got killed early in the level. But bottom line: if you like turn-based RPG adventures, get Demeo. If you prefer turn-based strategy, get Demeo Battles (see above).
