For years I've struggled to find a way I could use a window fan to cool down my bedroom at night without also pulling in so much pollen that by the morning I'm a sneezing mess. I had tried shoving an HVAC air filter between the fan and my original window screen - this worked but had very little airflow, and if it rained the filter was trashed. I had bought a box fan with a built-in HVAC air filter (Lasko FF305) - this also worked, but was incredibly noisy.
I was dubious that this window screen would work - but it's freakin amazing! I've been using it with my normal window fan every night for over two weeks now, and it's so good at keeping pollen and dust out that my allergies overall have greatly improved! Not only do I *not* wake up sneezing profusely, but I don't really need the allergy meds I was taking to get through the day either. This material is expensive, but worth every single penny it costs if you have seasonal allergies! It certainly does restrict airflow comparative to a standard window screen material, but still way better than any of the HVAC filter approaches and still enough to cool the room down.
I went with the traditional installation method - using the rubber cord to seat the screen into the metal window screen frame. It's a bit more difficult to install than a standard window screen because of how thick it is, but still only took about 20 minutes. If you don't want to try that, you can also just use the included double-sided tape to adhere the new screen to the face of the metal window screen frame.
