When you do not have ideas to touch screens, how do you choose a right touch screen for your devices? This article is sharing three regular used touch screen for your reference,hope it is helpful for you.

IR touch frame, capacitive touch screen and Nano touch film are three regular used touch screen,here are will separated three part to show you what they are?

1.    IR touch frame

IR touch frame | screen,available size from 15 inch to 86 inch

1.1  What is a IR touch frame?

An IR (Infrared) touch frame is a type of touchscreen that utilizes IR light to detect touch commands. IR light consists of electromagnetic radiation with longer-than-average wavelengths, which are invisible to the naked eye. IR touchscreens employ light-projecting diodes and sensors to detect touch commands.

1.2 How Does an IR Touch frame Work?

An IR touch frame consists of light-projecting diodes placed around the perimeter of the touchscreen, emitting IR light across the display interface. On the opposite side, sensors pick up the projected IR light. When a touch command occurs, blocking the IR light in a specific area, the corresponding sensor registers it as a touch command.

1.3 Advantages of IR Touch Frames

•    High accuracy and precision in touch detection.

•    Can be used with various input methods, including fingers, stylus pens, and gloved hands.

•    Suitable for both indoor and outdoor environments.

•    Excellent durability and resistance to wear and tear.

•     High stability,it is without affected by current, voltage and static electricity.

•    Among all touch screens, it with best cost performance, if the target price is limmitted.

1.4 Limitations of IR Touch Frames

•    Prone to false touches caused by objects interrupting the IR light path.

•    Limited multitouch capabilities compared to other technologies.

•  Appearance will with a groove on the surface of the infrared frame.

Advices:

If it is used in a unit, enterprise, or public hall, the suggestion is to choose an infrared frame because it has a price advantage.

But is used in industrial devices, IR touch frame is unable to carry too large data, it will not be a good choose.

2.    Capacitive touch screen( PCAP touch screen)

Capacitive touch screen,max size is upto 65 inch

2.1 What is a capacitive touch screen?

A capacitive touch screen is a type of control display that relies on the conductive touch of a human finger or a specialized input device for input and control. Since the human body conducts electricity, touching an electrically charged surface will draw some of the surface’s electricity. Capacitive touchscreens measure a uniform electrostatic charge while looking for changes that indicate a touch command. Unlike resistive touch screens that sense pressure, capacitive touch screens work by detecting changes in capacitance.

2.2 How does a capacitive touch screen work?

Capacitive touch screens are coated with a material capable of storing electrical charges. When a conductive object, such as a finger or capacitive pen, touches the screen, it creates a small charge at the point of contact, effectively turning the screen into a functional capacitor. The change in the electrostatic field caused by this charge is measured, allowing the device to determine the precise location of the touch.

2.3 Advantages of capacitive touch screen

● The surface is smoothy and beautiful.

● Waterproof and could be used outdoor, it is resistant to light interference.

● capacitive touch screens provide higher levels of clarity, precision, and accuracy, even with minimal pressure or touch.

● In terms of stability, capacitive screens are generally used in industry, which shows that they have high stability.

●  In some designs, capacitive touch screens feature circuits positioned at each corner of the panel. These circuits calculate the charge generated by the touch and transmit the information to the controller for further processing. This enables multi-touch functionality and more complex input interactions.

3.    Nano touch film

Nano touch film,available size from 23.6 inch to 110 inch

3.1 What is a Nano touch film?

Nano Touch Film is a cutting-edge technology that has gained significant traction in recent years. It is a transparent and flexible film that can be applied to various surfaces, such as glass or plastic, to transform them into touch-sensitive interfaces. The film utilizes a capacitive touch technology, similar to the ones found in smartphones and tablets, to enable touch interactions.

3.2 How does a Nano touch film work?

  The X-axis nanowires and Y-axis nanowires are packaged in PET film by digital packaging automation equipment according to certain rules, thus forming a sensing matrix. Each matrix unit is a proximity sensor that can sense different orientations. These matrix units form a holographic touch sensing matrix. The touch sensing matrix inputs the sensing signal to the control chip, and then the control chip eliminates the noise and sends the effective touch signal to the upper driver software, so as to achieve precise positioning, trigger actions, and realize touch functions.

3.3 Advantages of Nano touch film.

●  Compact structure, light weight, easy to install on glass, acrylic board or film;

●  Transparent appearance, no frame, durable, safe to use, cool appearance;

●  Using unique sensing and computing technology, the positioning is accurate, and it can be used through glass touch and gloves;

●  No mechanical or pressure sensing components, durable;

●  Insensitivity to external light sources, ambient light changes will not affect the work;

3.4 Disadvantages of Nano touch film.

 Prone to touch drift.

Touch screens are becoming increasingly common in everyday life. Cell phones, computers, and even cars depend on touch screen technology to function properly. Having a physical keyboard or mouse now seems outdated, and touch screens have become the more intuitive technology for consumers. Not to mention, touch screens save space and are easy to maintain, so it makes sense to see them become the dominant technology.

Before determining which type of touch screen monitor is right for your business, you must first think of the following factors:

– How will your customers interact with the technology?

– Will it be used in a harsher environment and be exposed to spills, as in the restaurant industry?

Screen size: would a 10” or 17” be more fitting in your space?

Footprint: Do you need a more compact all-in-one system for smaller areas to avoid both hardware and cable clutter?

There are various types of touch screens; this article will discuss the basics of two of the most popular types of monitors.

1. Resistive touch screens

A resistive touch screen display is covered with two flexible, metallic layers that are separated ever so slightly. When someone touches the screen, the two layers are pressed together and notify the computer. One of the best things about a resistive touch screen is the fact that almost any object can be used to touch the screen. Since the screen works when the layers are pressed together, anything with some sort of point (pen, tool, gloved finger, etc.) can work.

Another key thing about resistive screens is that they are very affordable. The materials used to make them are relatively inexpensive, making this technology very popular.

2. Capacitive touch screens

A capacitive touch screen is a pairing of an insulator and a conductor. Since the human body can also conduct electricity, touching the screen results in a change in the screen’s electric charge. The location of this change is then used to determine where the screen was touched. In order for the screen to properly recognize a touch, a bare finger or specific stylus must be used.

Capacitive screens are generally more expensive than resistive screens, but not by much. However, they also tend to have longer life spans than resistive touch screens.

One note: It is not recommended to use capacitive monitors in environments like bars, where employees might have wet hands while using the touch screen. In this case, it will “see” the touch, but the mouse will move somewhere other than where you are touching.

Now that you know more about each type of screen, let’s not forget to consider features for the associated hardware. These are important elements to look for that can help your business run more efficiently:

– Serial and USB touch interfaces

– Excellent cable management

– An external power supply hidden in the base

– MSR and rear customer display options

Resistive and capacitive touch screen monitors each have their own strengths and weaknesses. Price is definitely important when it comes to touch screens, but it should always take a back seat to usability. It’s important to determine who might be using your touch screens as well as where your touch screens will be displayed. Size is also an important factor. If the screen is too small, it will be overlooked; if the screen is too big, it might look gaudy.

Finding the right touch screen can not only fill a “utility” need, but can give your restaurant or retail establishment a modern look and feel. Once you consider these business needs, you should be able to identify the type of touch screen that works for you. If you are still not sure, it’s always smart to ask your hardware vendor for their recommendations.
