Thermosets (Dense and Sponge)
-EPDM Rubber
EPDM is well known for its excellent ozone, weathering and aging resistance. It also has excellent water and steam resistance, maintains its flexibility at low temperatures, features excellent resistance to alkalis, acids and oxygenated solvents, and is very color stable. It is not recommended for resistance to oil, gasoline and hydrocarbon solvents. EPDM is found in a wide range of applications and is excellent for use outdoors. At our facility, EPDM is used mostly for automotive weatherseals for door, window, windshield, trunk, hood, other industrial rubber extrusions and molded rubber parts.
-Silicone Rubber
Silicon features excellent resistance to ozone, sunlight and oxidation, and is very color stable.
It also maintains excellent flexibility at low temperature, has outstanding resistance to high heat, has low compression set and is a very good electrical insulator. However, it is not recommended for applications that require abrasion resistance, tear and cut growth resistance and high tensile strength. Nor is it recommended for resistance to oil, gasoline, solvents, alkalis, and acids. At our facility, Silicone rubber is used for extrusions and molded parts.
-Nitrile Rubber
Nitrile rubber has very good oil and abrasion resistance to alkalis and acids increases as the nitrile content of the compound increases. Nitrile must be specially compounded for resistance to ozone, sunlight and natural aging. It has poor resistance to oxygenated solvents. Nitrile is superior to neoprene in oil and solvent resistance, but is not recommended for applications where it is exposed to severe weathering. At our facility, Nitrile rubber is used for manufacturing oil resistant grommets, molded rubber parts and hoses.
Ethylene Acrylate Rubber
AEM is resistant to oil, heat and ozone. It exhibits good resistance to lubricating oils and greases (mineral or synthetic based containing aggressive additives), transmission/power steering fluids, water up to 100°C/212°F and in special circumstances also to dry and wet sour gases and blow-by. The operating temperatures for AEM range from -40°C/-40°F to 160°C/320°F, and for a short period of time up to 190°C/374°F. AEM closes the gap between HNBR and FKM.
-Neoprene Rubber
Neoprene has moderate resistance to oils and gasoline. It features good flame resistance, weathers well and has very good resistance to abrasion, flex cracking, alkalis and acids. However, expect poor resistance to aromatic and oxygenated solvents and limited flexibility at low temperatures. Neoprene is generally considered an excellent all-purpose elastomer with a solid balance of properties and few limitations. At our facility, Neoprene rubber is used for manufacturing insulation and shock-protection products.

Thermoplastics(Rigid and Flexible):
-Thermoplastic Elastomer
TPE are materials that have the properties and performance of rubber but are processed like thermoplastics. Their performance properties are similar to conventional thermosets such as EPDM or neoprene. The important features of TPE are that they are flame resistant, possess resistance to aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbon solvents as well as oil and gasoline. At our facility, TPE is used for automotive weather seals, building gaskets, etc.
-Thermoplastic Vulcanizate
TPV consists of a polyolefin phase (PP) with a dynamically cured EPDM phase closely dispersed in the first one which gives rubber like properties and has the advantage of thermoplastic processing techniques. It has excellent ozone, UV and weather resistance due to saturated elastomeric phase.TPV has very good fatigue, tear strength as well as very Low compression set and good elasticity in a wide temperature range. At our facility, TPV is used for manufacturing window glass run channel replacing traditional flocked or coated EPDM rubber glass run channel.
-PVC
PVC has excellent impact strength, good resilience, tensile strength, abrasion resistance and maintains flexibility at lower temperatures. It is not the polymer of choice when resistance to oil, gasoline and hydrocarbon solvents is required. At our facility, PVC is used for manufacturing edge trim, edge protection, automotive inner and outer waistline belt weatherstrip, extrusions, gaskets, clips, etc.
-Nylon
Nylon has very good physical properties and is one of the most widely used engineering plastics in the industry today. PA shows a high thermostability, also high stiffness, hardness and toughness are some of its main characteristics.Due to the fact, the good mechanical properties will be achieved only after conditioning. This material must be conditioned again after an annealing. In addition, this conditioning occurs with a longer storage in air automatically. At our facility, Nylon is used for manufacturing molded parts like brake pads, accelerator pads, hoses, connectors, etc.
-Polyurethane (Urethane Polyurethane Thermoplastic & Thermoset)
Polyurethane (PU) is a unique tear resistant material that offers the elasticity of rubber combined with the toughness and durability of metal. Polyurethane has a high load-bearing capacity as well as resistance to abrasion, oil, many chemicals and solvents, sunlight and harsh weather conditions. Polyurethane provides superior sound dampening properties in relation to rubber and plastics and is also great for electrical insulating properties. Applications include gaskets, seals, gears, wheels, bearings, bumpers, drive belts, valve seats, noise damper, chute-hopper liners, slurry transfer, mallets heads and solvent lines.
